Elastic Euler Buckling Equation
The critical load \( P_{cr} \) at which buckling occurs is given by the Euler buckling formula:
\[ P_{cr} = \frac{\pi^2 EI}{(KL)^2} \]
Where:
- \( P_{cr} \) = Critical load at which buckling occurs
- \( \pi^2 \) = Mathematical constant (approximately 9.8696)
- \( E \) = Young’s modulus of the material
- \( I \) = Moment of inertia of the cross-section
- \( K \) = Effective length factor
- \( L \) = Actual length of the column
